Web Design, Robotics, and More!

Welcome to Artifice! We're a community tech center in the Woodlawn neighborhood that teaches youth how to build website, make video games, build robots, repair computers, and more! We currently offer classes on web development (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript), video game development, an introduction to computer hardware, and electronics/robotics (Arduino programming) Monday through Thursday from 3:30 PM to 6 PM with classes from 4 to 5 pm, and 11 AM to 3 PM on Saturdays. We're available to students age 10 and up (Adults included!), the first two weeks are free, and scholarships are available to ensure anyone can learn!

If you or a local student you know would like to learn, send us an e-mail at, check the sign-up page, or just come and stop by. We're at 65th St and S. Stony Island, in the Woodlawn neighbourhood of Chicago. We have computers, robots, and free homework help for students. Check us out!

Our Mission

Artifice is a Woodlawn-based organization with a bold new approach to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education. We seek to use project-based, hands-on learning to endow participants with the tech and entrepreneurial skills, specifically, that will make them the masters of their own destiny.

Using the skills they learn at the center to create community-based social enterprises, enabling them to build their skillsets, portfolios, and even businesses, all while benefitting the community. Ultimately, we hope to combine tech and entrepreneurial competencies in a way that will sustainably raise the economic and educational prospects of the neighborhood and surrounding areas.
